Online Digital Media (Video-on-Demand)
The BCIU's Educational Technology Services (ETS) Department provides Berks County's school districts with on-demand video that is streamed or downloaded over the Internet. We can provide Discovery Education Streaming videos in every curricular area.
You may access the videos via the Web. Follow these simple steps:
- Call 610-987-8480 or e-mail media@berksiu.org to get your school passcode.
- Log on to http://streaming.discoveryeducation.com.
- Enter your school's passcode.
- Click “Login.”
Physical Media Library (DVDs and VHS tapes)
ETS provides educational media to schools in Berks County for classroom use. Our media library contains more than 10,000 items.
To book media items, teachers use the MediaNet online booking system by following these simple steps:
- Call 610 987-8480 to get your client number.
- Log on to http://media.berksiu.org.
- Search the catalog for your choice of media.
- Reserve online with a few clicks.
- Schedule your free delivery and pickup. Materials are delivered to your district and picked up twice a week via inter-district courier service.
StarLab
ETS loans Berks County teachers StarLab portable planetariums. We have two planetariums available to teachers who have completed a basic skills training program. We also offer advanced training in integrating the planetarium into your school's curriculum.
SIMCA Kits
ETS loans Berks County teachers taxidermed (mounted or reproduced for display) small animals such as hawks, skunks, squirrels, snakes, turtles, ducks, beavers, butterflies, fawns, gophers, groundhogs, muskrats, porcupines, raccoons, and many more. Elementary students across the county enjoy these critters! Most of the SIMCA Kits include instructional materials.
