Community Partners
The Berks Business Education Coalition (BBEC) is an organization that joins the resources and expertise of the Berks County business community with those of the education community.
BBEC works closely with the Berks County Intermediate Unit on a variety of initiatives, including BerksWorks, insideBERKSbusiness, and Berks Career Pathways.
Berks Community Action Program
Berks Community Action Program (BCAP) serves the low-income population of Berks County with programs that include GED preparation, the Supported Work program, and the Family Savings Account program.
BCAP is the grantee for the local Head Start program, which is operated by the Berks County Intermediate Unit.
BerksTALKLINE provides free, confidential, nonjudgmental, skilled listening services to individuals, and assists them in assessing their options.
BCIU staff members serve on the agency's executive committee, participate in fund-raising activities, and provide marketing and communications support to this community organization.
Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the business of life.
In partnership with business and educators, Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential and preparing them for the workplace.
Numerous BCIU staff members serve as JA volunteers by educating Berks County students in entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy.
The United Way's business is community impact, not just fund-raising. The work of the United Way goes beyond its historic role as collector and distributor of charitable contributions. It is about making the community a better place for all to live and work.
The United Way of Berks County is striving toward a vision of having a county full of thriving children and families, healthy and self-sufficient people, and vibrant neighborhoods and communities.
The Berks County Intermediate Unit's Child Care Program receives funding support from the United Way.
