On September 5 and 6, the BCIU hosted more than 100 attendees at the 2019 Berks County Trauma Summit.
The two-day event was centered around trauma-informed care for children. The first day focused on educators and social services workers while the second was focused on parents and caregivers.
Breakout sessions provided attendees with an in-depth look into topics of their choosing, including basic skills of trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, and the trauma-informed classroom.
Mr. Gerry Vassar, President & CEO of Lakeside Global Institute, moderated the discussions, bringing the attendees together after the breakout sessions for a call-to-action dialogue.
The event was sponsored by the 2017 PA Hurricane Supplemental Emergency Response Grant (SERG) in collaboration with the PA Attorney General’s Office, Lakeside Global Institute, Berks County Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities Program, and the Berks County Intermediate Unit.
