More than 250 education leaders from across Berks County gathered on August 1 at Penn State Berks for the Berks County Schools Administrators’ Conference. Administrators from all 18 school districts, the Berks Career and Technology Center, and the Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center were in attendance.

The event featured a keynote presentation by Mr. Bill Simpson, retired president and CEO of Hershey Resorts & Entertainment Company. Speaking on the topic of “How to Build Your Team,” Mr. Simpson hit on the importance of workplace culture and how it is shaped by those at the top – illustrating his point by asking those in attendance what their employees will say about them tonight during dinner table conversation.

In the afternoon, after networking in job-alike groups, Attorney Andrew Faust spoke on the topic of “Special Education Child Find and Student Discipline Considerations.” Mr. Faust is Berks County BASE Pool Council and often provides onsite training to participating schools regarding special education and student services.

The annual event is coordinated by the BCIU Office of Professional Development and Curriculum and the Office of the Executive Director. The conference is presented at no charge to administrators through the generosity of our sponsors. Capital Blue Cross and Tompkins VIST Bank & Insurance were our Gold Sponsors. Edmentum, Forecast5 Analytics, and Legacy Portraits sponsored at the Bronze level.
